Now on Chrome Web Store · Manifest V3 · v0.2.2

See task-tested facts and 1-click comparisons right where you search and work

Available for 1-click install on the Chrome Web Store across Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Ego. Powered by 224 verified task assessments across 86 products, 10 task topics and structured pricing snapshots. Zero floating cards injected into tool workspaces, and zero access to your private files.

16-Second Tour: Search Badges & 1-Click Toolbar PK

Spot no-login, watermark-free truth on search results before clicking, and launch side-by-side comparisons from the toolbar with zero workspace clutter.

Two low-noise touchpoints (v0.2 upgrade)

Surfaces verifiable facts during selection without ever blocking your workspace canvas.

1. Search Engine Results: Low-Noise Score Strip + Multi-Tool Comparison

When searching for tasks like "remove bg", "compress PDF", or "scanned PDF OCR", a single compact metadata strip per domain shows the dated integer score, server wait, and watermark-free status without cluttering sitelinks. When ≥2 tested tools appear on the same SERP, a quiet top strip lets you compare them side by side.

1 strip per domain · Zero sitelink spam · 1-click PK

2. Tool Websites: Zero DOM Injection · Toolbar Badge + Scenario PK Popup

Never injects floating cards into tool websites. The browser toolbar icon displays the task score badge (e.g., 88). Click the icon to inspect quality sub-scores, server wait, free quotas, scenario-filtered alternatives (No login + Clean / Fast & Local), 1-click side-by-side PK, or nominate an unlisted site.

Zero workspace clutter · Scenario filters · 1-click nomination

Contract boundaries & automatic index sync

  • Task-bound integer scores (dynamically synced across all task topics): Every score is bound to a specific task category and its test date. On a multi-capability homepage, a discovered backlog feature, or a withheld capability URL, the badge shows "✓" or "!" with explicit scope notices—never a cross-task average.
  • Approved public set only: Validated by the publication gate at build time. Withheld reports (insufficient_evidence) are never included.
  • Daily silent index sync: Ships with a bundled offline snapshot for instant lookup and refreshes once every 24 hours from realtest.org/api/extension-index.json.
  • Zero private file access: Matches hostnames and feature paths locally in your browser. Never reads uploaded images/PDFs or transmits browsing history.

Installation (Chrome Web Store 1-Click & Offline Package)

  1. Option 1 (Recommended): 1-Click Install via Chrome Web Store — Open the official listing on the Chrome Web Store (RealTest — Tool Benchmark & Alternative Finder) ↗ and click "Add to Chrome" for automatic updates across Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Ego. Pin the RealTest icon to your browser toolbar to see task score badges at a glance.
  2. Option 2: Offline Unpacked Package (Developer mode) — If you cannot access the Chrome Web Store, download realtest-extension.zip and unzip it, then open chrome://extensions/ (or edge://extensions/ ), enable "Developer mode", click "Load unpacked", and select the unzipped realtest-extension directory.

Privacy Policy & Permission Disclosures (Chrome Web Store / Edge Compliance)

RealTest Browser Companion operates on a strict local-matching, zero-telemetry, and zero third-party DOM injection model. Below is the complete disclosure of our data handling and Manifest V3 permissions:

  • Zero personal or browsing data collection: The extension never collects, logs, transmits, or sells your browsing history, search queries, uploaded images/PDF documents, form inputs, cookies, or account credentials, and contains zero third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
  • activeTab & tabs permissions: Used strictly locally inside your browser to match the active tab hostname and feature path against the bundled/cached benchmark index so the toolbar icon badge (e.g., 86, ✓, or !) and popup panel stay in sync as you switch or navigate tabs. Tab URLs never leave your device.
  • storage permission: Used exclusively to cache the public benchmark index snapshot (extension-index.json) and its last-fetched timestamp in chrome.storage.local for instant offline lookup.
  • host_permissions (https://realtest.org/*): Used solely to perform a read-only GET request once every 24 hours to https://realtest.org/api/extension-index.json (or /zh/api/extension-index.json) to refresh the public benchmark snapshot, without sending any user identifiers or browsing context.
  • Search engine content scripts: Runs strictly on Google (global & regional domains), Bing, DuckDuckGo, Baidu, Yahoo, Brave, Startpage, Ecosia, Kagi, Yandex, Sogou, and 360 Search result pages to render read-only score pills next to listed tool links. Zero content scripts or CSS are injected into third-party tool websites.
